Whitney Elizabeth Houston is a singer from Newark, New Jersey on 9th August 1963. Her parents are gospel stars Cissy Houston(n e Emily Lee Drinkard), and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne warwick also sings. The mother of Whitney Houston and her daughter started singing professionally at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark in the year Whitney was just 15 years old.
